Salt and salt. Great lively atmosphere and extensive beer list. Service attentive, timely, and informative. Unfortunately the food fell a little flat. Excellent cheese board app with nice selection and good modest portion. The soup of the evening a sausage and white bean gumbo along with the Signature Shepherd's pie were both heavily salted as both I and my companion agreed. Too bad as the presentation was nice and the ingredients were quality and balanced aside from that. An off night? Not sure... enough there to maybe give it another shot.
A friend and I saddled up to the bar around 8pm. On a weeknight, that's when the crowd starts dispersing. The bartender was a friendly, unassuming kind of fellow who kept the beer coming quick and steady. I like the way they gladly give you samples of the drafts, too. Unfortunately, there were no cute girls to be seen. Maybe True North is stealing them. As usual, good times.
Ritual is a cool spot. The bar was full so we had to sit at a table but that was OK. We only got appetizers...mine was a special that was a savory tart which contained onions, figs, pecans, goat cheese, and parmesan--interesting flavor combination. Beer selection was good and service was exceptional. When our dishes came, we got a full explanation of what were in our meals. I can't wait to get back and explore the rest of the menu.
