The Blind Lady Ale house is middle of the road for me, the food is okay, the pizzas are better than the charcuterie plates. The beer is pretty good and sometimes they have really good selections. In my opinion the best part and the reason that I go back is that it is a pretty decent "bar-place" that will allow children to come too. I think only till 10pm, but that is fine by me!

You really don't go to Blind Lady Ale House to eat very stellar food. They do get points for trying to be a little creative with the menu, but all of the dishes I have tried have seemed to lack something (or were just plain bad). I did go when an art show was going on this time around, so the atmosphere is pretty cool if you catch a special event. The beer selection is the only reason to go - it is well rounded offers some unique tastes beyond the normal fare. Basically a quick jaunt in to try a few beers and leave it place, the real bother is ordering - the bar is small, people ordering food and drink are all smashed together and it is difficult to get around the line that forms. Just camp with a few friends, have a few beers and get the heck out before the place starts getting crowded....

There are a lot of San Diego originals - restaurant concepts that traveled in from other cities/states/countries to become the first of their kind in San Diego. One of those originals is the Pizza Port concept. They do a great job of making quality food, for a reasonable price, in a casual environment, with local craft beers on tap. That's their thing. They do it well. And with any good original comes the inevitable... knock offs. And leading the charge is Blind Lady Ale House. There is decent food, for pretty much reasonable prices. But that's where it ends. The casual environment devolved into utter chaos with an ordering line that serpentines through the dining room and diners without seating. The craft brews are the equivalent of what I could make in my garage with a bath tub, some hops, and a Beer for Dummies book. If I lived nearby, I'd probably cherish BLAH as a convenient, nearby approximation of Pizza Port. But since I have to travel to both, I'd take Port any day of the week.
