Yardhouse

I wanted to mix it up this week for the football games, so I figured why not give the Yardhouse a try. Plus, it gets difficult to find a seat at the bar for the 1 o'clock games (4 EST) at the Local.

First thing to note...there is a ton of beer on tap. I think it's over a hundred. Their list consists of both local offerings and national brews. I didn't repeat myself once on a 6 beer day. Next up--the food.

First of all, the menu is pretty cool. They put an interesting spin on typical bar fare. Bear in mind...it's a bit pricey their. Anyway, I tried the Jamaican wings and crab cake hoagie. The wings were quite good. The bones had a good amount of meet, which was quite tender. The seasoning was good, and the rum-BBQ sauce was a great accompaniment. The crab cake sandwich wasn't quite as good, but still didn't disappoint. The shoestring fries which came as a side melted in the mouth.

As per usual in San Diego, the service was mediocre. I think I need to adjust my expectations since moving here from Boston, but if you don't go to Ruth's Chris or Donovan's...be prepared to wait for ordering, drink refills, and cashing out. It's usually friendly, though. I'll definitely be back to explore the Yardhouse. In fact, it may become my Sunday regular haunt when the Pats play at 1 (4 EST).
