The actual place is kind of a converted fast-food operation with a little more class, the servers just call you up deli style to pick up your order. I won't lie, it was the best gyro that I have had in San Diego, but that's not really saying much (maybe I have gone to the wrong places). My co-worker hit up the Western Burger, which I had some of. It was a greasy, huge ball of delicious. He did get the fries too, and from what I saw, the sides did look like they were just standard Safeway frozen fare.
Solid place if you like gyro meat, oh yeah, and bring cash, it is one of my big pet peeves that people don't take credit/debit card, and this is one of those places.
So I couldn't help but go with the Western DeLuxe...a half pound of ground beef topped with Gyro meat; it was really good. The beef patty could have been a bit more moist, but the flavors were great and it was oval (can you say "rustic"). To be honest, though, they seemed to phone it in on the side dishes.
I got onion rings, and my friend went with the chili cheese fries (I'll tell ya, that guy just can't lay off the chili fries). The rings were your typical frozen sub-shop offering. The fries looked just awful; standard medium-cut fries, a tiny bit of chili, and two orange squares of cheese (possible the individually wrapped variety) melted over the top. As bad as they looked, though, they tasted fine.
WSB is worth your time if you're in North Park, but stick to the burgers.
