I started with the lobster cocktail, which was absolutely delicious. The lobster was served in a glass with nothing to interrupt its flavor. A lemon, a mayonnaise sauce, and cocktail sauce were served on the side, but they were not at all needed.
Next course, the cajun spiced rib-eye. Yummm!!! My concern was that the spiced would overpower the natural flavor of the meat, but it was the perfect complement. I also grabbed a couple of sides...the spinach with mushrooms and mac and cheese. Both were great and are currently waiting in a togo box to be feasted on tomorrow.
Lastly, I went with the warm chocolate cake for dessert. It came out a bit cooler than I would have expected, but that was easy to look past. It didn't take long to polish off that plate.
Morton's is great. On par with the other steakhouse chains (Ruth's Chris, Donovan's, Flemming's, etc). The rib-eye beat out the competition, but overall, they didn't distinguish themselves. I'll be back, but if there's a steakhouse that stands above the rest in SD, I'd love to hear about it.
