Fans of Greek cuisine will know that I'm referring to the Saganaki (flaming goat cheese). It is a site to behold. Anyway, we went to Apollonia last night for a post-wine tasting feast and were not disappointed. We started with the flaming cheese and Taramosalata (potato puree with caviar). Both were quite good, although as my friend put it, the Taramosalata tasted a bit like potato salad. I'm inclined to agree.
For and Entree, I went with a combo plate that included Spanakopita, chicken and beef souvlaki, and something else. Every hit home except the beef. It was a bit tough and the flavor didn't shine through. The chicken was great, though and the spinach pie was good as well. I got to nibble at other plates around the table and was also impressed with the Gyros and Kefta plate.
I will say, there was a bit of build up for this place, and while good, it didn't quite live up to the hype, but the food and service were solid and I'll definitely be back for more flaming food.
