Allow me to set the scene. In the time I was there, the dining room went through a bit of a transformation, so I'm going to focus on the later end of the experience. Cafe Chloe is quaint; for dinner, the entire room is lit, half by candle and half by a dim recessed lighting. Picture a woman's bedroom on the night she schemes to seduce that new, special guy she's been seeing. Romance is definitely in the air.
The wine list is adequate and the beer list is exotic. I started with a Block 13 Cab Sav, and moved onto the St. Bernardus Belgium. Both quite fruity, but the beer wore it better.
For food, I started with the pancetta mac and cheese. A nice dish, and the cubes of pancetta really added the perfect accent to the cavatappi noodles and strong cheese flavor. For dinner, I couldn't say no to the trio of pork. A dish of pork loin, belly, and garlic sausage...complimented with sauerkraut, fingerling potatoes, and two flavors of mustard (both strangely mild). This dish was a winner. Pork belly is almost better when not turned into bacon (if you can believe it).
All in all, the service was workmanlike and bordered on cold. Too bad, since the food and atmosphere were really stellar...especially for the price.
