I remember first being taken to Sipz...here was the sell. "You should come with us for lunch, we're getting Vietnamese Vegan". What? Such a thing even exists?!?! Well, it does, and it's damn tasty.

I try to get over to this place at least once every couple of weeks, and as much as I want to try other things on the menu, I can't ever seem to lay off the peppered pork (ahem...a tofu-based pork product). It's absolutely delicious--served in a thick brown glaze with mushrooms, and a side of rice and salad. It's not on their foodfinder menu, but if it was, I'd give it a ten.

I'm a meat-eater at heart, but I'm still never disappointed when eating at Sipz. Give it a shot.

Having read over the weekend “Consider the Lobster”, an essay by David Foster Wallace which poses ethical questions about boiling an animal alive for our culinary pleasure, I was good with going vegetarian today. This Sipz location is in a local food court, so there’s not much to describe in the way of atmosphere. Today I went with the house special which is becoming my usual. The house special is tofu (I go with the “chicken” style tofu) and vegetables in a sweet and spicy (your choice, 1-10) Chinese style sauce with white rice and a side salad. The kitchen is obscured from view, but I believe dishes are prepared to order which is nice compared to the Chinese style fast food norm of leaving the dishes under heat lamps for who knows how long. They also have a variety of interesting teas, and if you pay in cash they will give usually you a freebie (I didn’t inquire today, the last one I tried kind of soured me on them). The line tends to move kind of slow, but I’d recommend giving it a try if you have time.
