We hit up Star Anise for the second time today, and I could definitely see it making its way onto the regular lunch rotation. The first time we came in, I went with the Pad Thai. Not the best I'd ever had, but it was still quite good. In general, I find Pad Thai to be a commodity item, but this one was a bit different...maybe because I dialed down the spice.

For today's visit, I got Spicy Khee-Mao Noodles with chicken. It was the first time I'd tried the dish in any establishment, and I was very impressed. Pan frying the noodles added a nuttiness that was a nice treat and balanced well with the spice. Oh, also, their spice levels are mild, medium, and spicy, as opposed to the 1-10 scale that is barely consistent within a single restaurant, let alone across different places.

The service here is a bit rushed, but for lunch, I find that to be OK. I'm looking forward to making my way back.
