Spices Thai Cafe

  (3.75 overall)

The food was great. It was great enough to make my dislikes insignificant. For example, the restaurant felt crowded and small, and the noise level was almost unbearable. I could hardly hear my crying daughter over the noise. But the food was great.

I had the Pad Thai lunch special which comes with soup, salad, and a spring roll. I was able to feed myself and my wife, get a special drink each, all for under $30. It's a bit high for a regular lunchtime stop, but well worth it when I feel like splurging for some great tasting chow.

Cotijas Mexican Food

This place has the best burritos and the food is very affordable. You won't find any fancy seats or art on the walls, but that's not why you go to a hole in the wall taco shop in San Diego. You go there for mexican food goodness, and that's what you'll find at Cojitas. This place gets pretty packed around 6 PM, so go early to avoid long lines.

Il Fornaio

  (4.6 overall)
Reviewed on Jan 9 3:44 PM

It was my five year anniversary and I wanted to do something special for my wife. A family member had recommended Il Fornaio and I had wanted to visit Coronado, so we decided to try it out.

We lived in Downtown San Diego at the time, so we walked to the harbor and enjoyed the 30 minute ferry ride from the Mainland over to Coronado.

The Ferry ride was great but the restaurant was so much better. I can't say enough about it. The food was absolutely spectacular...the best Italian food I have ever eaten.

We ordered Rustichella as an apetizer...so good. For our main course we shared the butternut squash ravioli and the Gnocchi. Both were great but the ravioli was by far the superior dish.

They had a great wine list and the service was just right. Not too pushy and perfectly attentive.

We enjoyed the experience so much that we have decided to return every year for our anniversary so long as we live in San Diego.
